Ocean Temperature

The ocean is really deep like 2'400 meters kind of deep (which is 7,874.0157 feet).

The ocean is divided up  into three sections. Surface is the top to about 200 meters (or 656.16798 feet.)

The next layer is Thermocline is from 200 meters to about 700 meters.

And the last layer is called the Deep Zone is 700 meters to the ocean floor 2400 -plus or minus.

The top of that water in a tropical water region could be 30 degrees Celsius (or 86 degrees Fahrenheit.)

Polar arias could be negative -2 degrees Celsius (or 28 degrees Fahrenheit.)

The top of the water in an averaged aria at the surface could be about 81 Fahrenheit (27 Celsius.). And at the deep zone and at the floor is about 36.5 degrees Fahrenheit or 2.5 Celsius.

The Challenger Deep

The ocean floor is just like the dry land only covered with water. There are valleys, mountains, plains and deep trenches.
The deepest point known in the ocean is called the Challenger Deep and is located in the Marianas Trench in the South Pacifistic Ocean near Guam. (Which is over by China, Australia and Japan. It's a small island.)
The Challenger is 10,911 meters below the surface of the ocean floor. -Not the top of the water. (That's about 35,797.244 feet and that would equal almost 7 miles.)
If you put mount Everest in the Challengver, Everest would be covered by 2 kiolmeters of water. (That's over a mile of water.)
Well, that's about 11 kelometers of water all pressing down at about 1145 tons per square foot.
The first exploration of the Challenger was in January of 1960 by the crew of a sub called the Trieste. They went way down, down to the bottom of the ocean floor. It was pitch black and cold. But in the head lights of the Trieste they saw something go past. Looking closer it turned out to be a flat fish about a foot long. It just proves that GOD made every bit of the earth to be inhabited by living creatures, not excluding the deepest, coldest point in the ocean.

The Ocean

The Oceans takes up 7 10ths of the earth. But the ocean is actually only 96.5% water. The other 3.5% is 2.75% Sodom chloride and 0.78% other things.
The ocean contains 360 quintillions gallons of water. (And just so you know; a quintillion is a billion billions which is 6 sets of 3 zeros or18 zeros.
Gallons of water int the ocean:
               1,000,000,000,000,000,000, times 360. That's a lot of water.
One cubic mile of ocean water contains:
           4.5 billion tons of water
128 million tons of Sodium Chloride (table salt)
18 million tons of magnesium chloride
8 million tons of magnesium sulfate (Epsom salt)
6 million tons of calcium sulfate
4.2 million tons of potassium chloride
           470,000 tons of calcium carbonate
           47,000 tons of rubidium
           1,400 fluorine
           1,400 tons of nitrogen
           470 tons of zinc
           380 tons of phosphorous
           380 tons of arsenic
           94 tons of iodine

Any way that's a lot of things in one cubic mile of ocean.

Rain Droplets

I thought that I would do some cool facts for a while & so here's your cool fact of the day.

Cloud and Rain Droplets; (There are four different sizes of droplets.)
                 Rain Droplets -(Diameter) 2mm
                 Drizzle droplets -(Diameter) 0.3mm
                 Giant Cloud droplets-(Diameter) 0.1mm
                 Cloud droplets-(Diameter) 0.02mm

Just so that you know, mm stands for Milli Meter and is one one thousandth of an inch.
(mm is part of the Metric System. I'll do a post on it pretty soon.)

Michael, 4 Years Today

Michael was the biggest blessing that GOD ever gave us and a big surprise too.
We weren't expecting to have more kids and were defiantly surprised that it was a little boy.
We were also quite surprised to find out how much energy he has.
In one meal he can neatly polish off a grand serving of three to four peanut and butter and jelly sandwiches as well as some fruit and desert if we have it.

GOD knew that we needed another little kid, plus he also bless mommy with the four years of rest betwean Sarah.
I guess he knew that mommy would need to build up energy to keep up with him

Behold, children are a blessing from the LORD.

The Amazing Sighting!

Yesterday I herd my younger siblings screaming at the top of their lungs. So I ran to my window and saw that all my brothers and sisters were screaming and pointing at the sky.
When I leaned out to look out I saw the biggest flock of birds that I had ever seen that weren't those little song birds.
I ran out side to get a better look and it turned out to be a huge flock of Herrings.
It was the weirdest thing that I have ever seen and it was really cool to watch them change spots because this big ripple would just flow down the lines.

And so that was our exciting sight of the week.

Leep-a-Year

Today is Leap-a-Year.
The twenty ninth of February! A big day because it only comes every four years.
Do you know why that is?
Well, the earth takes approximately 365 and one quarter days to orbit the sun. So what dose one do with the extra quarter day?
If you just let it be, with in ten years, you would have Christmas in July and fourth of July in December. (I was just guessing on how many years it would take to mix every thing up.) But it would get mixed up if some very smart person hadn't figured out what to do about that small issue.
So every four years, you add an extra day. And because February got dumped with the bad end of the day deal and got stuck with only twenty eight days, some one decided to give February the privileged of getting the Leap-a-Year day.
There is also a Leap-a-Second because the earth doesn't take exactly twenty four hours to go around in a circle but that's another confusing matter.
  "So have a very Happy Leap-a-Year! :)

Microbats and Megabats

There are two kinds of bats.
 The Megabat and the Microbat.
The Microbat is much smaller.
There are many ways to tell the difference.
The first is by the size.
While the Megabat is huge and has a wing span of  up to six feet, (That's a lot of wing!) the microbat is very small.
The magabats when it hangs upside down to sleep, it wraps its wings around it and the microbat folds his winds to his sides.
While the Micro. uses echo location to find it's dinner of bugs, most Mega.s don't have to ability of echo location. -Instead the Megabat prefers fruit, and you don't need echo location to help you find nice sweet smelling fresh fruit.
scents the Megabat eats fruit, it doesn't need sharp teeth like the microbat. GOD gave the Megabat short flat teeth that can help it chew the fruit better.
I would really like to see a Megabat flying around my house one night but they only live in tropical arias.
The Megabat eats many tropical fruits that with out these kinds of bats, would eventually die out.
So we can know that GOD has a purpose for every animal on the earth great and small and we can know that no matter how insignificant we may seem, we still have a purpose here on GOD's great earth.

Last day on Birds

Well, this is the last day on birds.
And for the last post on birds it will be about one of my favorites.
The Wood Pecker.
Now this might sound odd, but I think that this one of the most amazing Birds that GOD ever Made.
Pileated Woodpecker Okay, so it rams it's beak into a tree at - I don't know how fast, they bam their beak hard in, to be able to penetrate the bark of the tree and still don't get a headache. That's because GOD gave him a cushion in the back of it's scull that protects that little birds' poor brain from being shaken half way to Timbuktu.
If this isn't enough, the woodpecker then sticks its long sticky barbed tong into the tree and scoops out the insect.
So, how dose the Woodpecker keep the bark out of it's nose?
Well, GOD made the Woodpecker with tufts of feathers over it''s nose so that the bark wont go in.

CLASS: Aves (birds)
ORDER: Piciformes (woodpeckers)
FAMILY: Picidae (woodpeckers)
GENUS/SPECIES: Dryocopus pileatus
NAME OF ONE IN PICTURE Redheaded Woodpecker

Bird's Bills

I am super sorry that I haven't done a post in so long but we have been really busy and then today I finally got a chance to get on the computer and I realized how long it had been since my last post.

We got a book once and it was about a little girl. And the whole book is a play on words. But my favorite part is when the girl is quoting her daddy and says: 'Daddy says all we get in the mail are big bills.'
And it's a picture of a bunch of big birds with their bills in the mail box.

GOD Created each birds bill in a unique way but suited to the birds habits.

So that is some on all the amazing different of beaks.

I am trying to find the difference between Beaks and Bills.
For instance a Wood-Pecker has a thin sharp beak that allows it to hammer through the wood of trees to get out insects.

Birds like the Parrots and Parakeets have short strong beaks useful for cracking nuts and things like that.

A Heron uses her long thin beak to spear fish and to get down in the wet muddy sand to dig out bugs and worms that live down there.
A Pink Flamingo has strainers on the sides of it's bill that allow it to scoop up a mouth full of small bugs from off the bottom of a stream and then let all the water and mud drain out.

The Spoon Bill has a strange spoon like bill and uses it like a spoon to scoop up it's food.

A Hawk or a Bald Eagle has a long sharp beak that it uses to kill it's prey.
